WisLoan is a statewide alternative loan program that allows residents with disabilities to purchase assistive technology or make home modifications so that they can be more independent and productive in their daily lives. Examples of home modifications:Examples of Assistive Technology:
Wheelchairs and motorized scooter
Hearing Aids
Magnifiers
Computer with modifications
Control/switches for lights, doors, and appliances
Vehicles with lifts or hand controls
Examples of home modifications:
Kitchen redesign
Roll-in showers or other bathroom modifications
Widening doorways
Ramps and home accessibility
Loan amounts range from $500 to $50,000 depending on what you purchase and your ability to pay. To be eligible to receive a loan: You must have the ability to repay the loan. WisLoan looks at your income, debt, living situation, job, and credit history. You can apply if you have poor credit history or no job.
WisLoan is a federally-funded project of the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) and the U.S. Department of Education. WisLoan is provided as a cooperative service of the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, BMO Harris Bank, IndependenceFirst and it's contracted statewide ILC's.
