Shar's StoryAssistant Director
How did I get here? I have over 30 years of experience in the accounting field doing compilation work for several different businesses. To feed my musical passion I taught piano out of my home when my children were growing up. In 2012 I started working at Midstate Independent Living Choices (Stevens Point) with a focus on Assistive Technology, and a second focus as a Benefits Specialist. In 2016, I moved into the Independent Living Coordinator position. During my time at MILC, I sat on many committees and councils. I remain on the WI Assistive Technology Advisory Council (as the WI Coalition of Independent Living Centers liaison), and the Universal Service Fund Council. In 2019 I accepted the position as Assistant Director at ACCESS to Independence. On a personal level; I am a proud mother of 3 adult children, 2 of which are married. I am a lover of music and have played piano since I was 5 years old. I play handful of other instruments but consider myself a keyboardist. I’ve played in many bands throughout my lifetime and claim blues as my genre. I served as the choir director at a Stevens Point Church for 5 years, and 10 years as a Worship Minister elsewhere. I also have a dream to one day conduct a symphony. I am a coffee lover, dog lover, and foodie. I am not originally from Wisconsin, but truly consider this to be my home. |
