We provide services based on individual goals for independent living; each consumer directs their own services and outcomes.

 

Access to Independence Core Services

Information and Referral

Information about disability-related issues, resources, and services are available to people with disabilities, families professionals and general public.  Topics include funding resources, employment and educational issues, adaptive equipment resources, housing information and interpreters.

 Peer Support

Staff and trained volunteers are available to persons with disabilities who are looking for support and assistance.  Peer support volunteers can assist an individual to learn how t coop with his/her disability through sharing of real-life experiences.

Individual Advocacy

Assist individuals with advocacy as well as teaching individuals how to communicate to obtain necessary support services from the community.

Systemic Advocacy

Access to Independence is involved in activities to make changes in the community that makes it possible for all persons with disabilities to live more independently.

Independent Living Skills Training

Staff provides both group and one-on-one assessment and training in areas including budgeting, transportation, communication, computer skills, cooking, and housing.

 

How Services are Provided

Access to Independence staff provides information training and support to assist people with disabilities in making informed decisions about their disability-related needs.  All of our services are consumer directed.  The individual decides which services they wish wish to participate in and works with staff to establish goals and determine the steps to meet those goals.

 Special Funding Resources

ATI also assists with TeleWork and WisLoan opportunities.  People who have disabilities and wish to borrow money for assistive technology and work-related purchases may apply for loans using TeleWork or WisLoan programs.  Contact us for more information.
